LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Altior Healthcare, known for its broad spectrum of services tailored to the unique needs of teens and young adults, is thrilled to spotlight their newly appointed Chief Nursing Officer, Megan Gerbino. Boasting an impressive team of over 450 dedicated professionals, Altior provides a system of care spread across California, Idaho, Maine, New Hampshire, and Texas.
Can you share with us what your main responsibilities will be in this position?
I am currently in a dual role in my new position as Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), in addition to maintaining my position as the Medical Director at Shortridge Academy. As CNO, my responsibilities include evaluating potential clients for Altior. I will also be working on policy and procedure modifications to allow for better access to care within the medical model and create thorough and health-focused practices for the health facilities at the Altior Residential Treatment Centers.
How did your previous experiences prepare you for this new role as Chief Nursing Officer at Altior Healthcare?
I come from the Emergency Department. Prior to Shortridge Academy, the ER was my home for several years, where I thrived in the ever-changing dynamic of that department. I believe the dynamic of mental health treatment for young people is similar because they need help in the moment, and part of my role is to help them gain access to quality care. I am prepared every day to assess and help get young people to a place that can help them and their families.
What attracted you to Altior Healthcare, and how do you plan to contribute to its mission and values?
I have been a part of the team at Shortridge Academy for the last three years. During that time, I have been involved in many changes, including the addition of an RTC (The Ridge) to our campus, and have become energized and motivated by being able to work alongside some amazing people who share a common goal to help young people navigate whatever difficult time they may be experiencing.
As the Chief Nursing Officer, what steps will you take to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care?
I believe it is so important to be present every day. It is imperative to show up and remember that these young people are at a pretty pivotal point in their lives, and we have the ability to change that for the better. Always remembering that before anything else will allow for the best patient care possible.
How will you address the increasing concerns surrounding teen mental health at Altior Healthcare?
Teen mental health is ever-changing. Ten years ago, teens presented much differently than they do now, and we as providers have to shift with those changes to ensure positive outcomes for these young people.
